Who i am
My name is Arvin Reza Ghamami, a NASM-Certified Personal trainer, nutritionist, and avid fitness advocate. I started my lifting journey half a decade ago in high school when I decided to get stronger for wrestling. I then transitioned into powerlifting, hitting the 1000 club exactly one year after I started with a 405 lb deadlift, 365 squat, and 230 bench at 175 pounds. When I first began, I had no idea I could achieve such strength in such little time. I can only attribute this success to intelligent workout design and a no limits mentality. However, this wasn’t without merit. I spent all my free time scouring the internet for scientific journals, fitness inspirations, and stories on how to become a better, more advanced lifter. As a student and avid researcher, I take on the role of integrating current research alongside practical advice to lead others on a journey of better health. True self-improvement, regardless of motivation, must be done logically, intelligently, and with the best intentions in mind.
I created OBEX Fitness because of how much anxiety I faced in the pursuit of my own dreams. Every time an obstacle came up, I would try to either discount its gravity or disregard its significance. As a result, I never actually succeeded in making the progress I thought I deserved. What I learned is that the only thing that makes you deserving of a goal is the amount of pain you’re willing to endure for its achievement. Call it pain, call it effort, call it work, bottom line is that there is a sacrifice. By embracing my brand philosophy, it became apparent that the only way “out” of a struggle was to learn how to withstand it. The pain faced isn’t a sign of wrongdoing, but rather the cost for becoming different.
If your goals aren’t powerlifting or bodybuilding, l still have your back. I’ve helped multiple clients lose dozens of pounds, pack on muscle, and reorient their nutrition all while juggling jobs, school, or even both. My decision to pursue personal training was born out of my passion for fitness which continues to grow to this day. Movement, inside or outside of the gym, is a part of everyone’s life. Understanding the right way to move through your obstacles is not just about getting closer to your goals, it’s about becoming the person who can achieve them regardless. Oftentimes, it’s about changing the perspective that created the problem, and understanding that the magic you’re looking for is in the work that you’ve been avoiding. For if all of your goals could be instantly granted, there would be no glory in their achievement.
